Kern Valley Chorus - Home Page
At the Regional Competition held in Bakersfield April 5, 2008, our very own Sweet Adeline’s of the Kern Valley placed 2nd in the small chorus division. Their placement this year moved them up a notch from last years’ 3rd place and they were also awarded the 2nd place most improved in a field of 18 choruses.
Among the other awards received this April, was chorus achievement, which placed Kern Valley 1st for the most points in the category of interacting within their community.
Kern Valley Sweet Adeline’s were proud to have 4 new members competing with them this year, Dorothy Lewis and Jennifer Buel, singing lead and brand new to the American art form of barbershop singing. Francie Gleason, singing baritone and Mary Alice Kelsey, singing bass, a mother, daughter duo who have sung in several chapters in the L.A. area before relocating to the valley. We are so pleased to have these 4 new ladies helping us sing and perform in the community.
We welcome all ladies who love to sing and perform on Thurs. nights at 7:00 pm at the Senior Center in Lake Isabella. Thank you to all of our Friends and Family who came and supported us on March 27th. You were our inspiration. We love you KERN VALLEY.
The Kern Valley Chorus is an award-winning chorus established in 1972 for women that love to sing. The Kern Valley Chorus is part of Sweet Adeline’s International and specializes in the art of four-part cappella harmony otherwise known as the barbershop style.
The Kern Valley Chorus regularly participates in community activities and has many gigs throughout the year. We all love to sing and our directors book as many gigs as possible for the opportunity to sing in our community.
Based in beautiful Kern River Valley nestled at the foot of the Sequoia National Forest, the women of the Kern Valley Chorus get together weekly to practice and perfect their vocal and performing skills. We invite all women to sing with us … if you can carry a tune we will teach you the rest!
